The integration of computer programming with pharmaceutical sciences has become increasingly important in today's rapidly evolving healthcare and research environment. Python, one of the world's most versatile and user-friendly programming languages, has emerged as an essential tool for pharmaceutical data analysis, drug discovery, clinical research, artificial intelligence, and healthcare informatics. Recognizing this growing need, we have prepared Basics of Python Programming for Pharmaceutical Sciences (BP101T) specifically for B.Pharm Semester I students in accordance with the latest PCI Syllabus 2026 (NEP 2020).

This book has been written with the primary objective of making programming accessible to pharmacy students, many of whom may have no prior background in computer science. Every topic has been explained in a simple, systematic, and student-friendly manner with numerous pharmaceutical examples, solved programs, illustrations, and practical applications. The contents cover the fundamentals of Python programming, control structures, functions, data structures, file handling, NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib, while emphasizing their relevance in pharmaceutical research and healthcare.

Special care has been taken to present concepts gradually, allowing learners to develop confidence through practice and real-world examples. We believe that computational skills are becoming indispensable for future pharmacists, researchers, academicians, and healthcare professionals, and this book aims to provide a strong foundation for further learning.

We sincerely hope that this textbook will serve as a valuable resource for students, teachers, and professionals. We welcome constructive suggestions from readers that will help us improve future editions of this book.
